So here begins the time where my room gets uncomfortable crowded with random dorm room items. In 3 weeks I will be starting class at IIT in Chicago, and I am starting the process of gathering all my school supplies. I’ve got bedding and towels in bags, as well as boxes of toiletries, bags full of school supplies, and all of my tech gear.

I’m going to be getting a TV that I can use as a second monitor for my laptop, a monitor for my xbox 360, and as a TV. Not to mention I’m bringing a laptop, a printer, clothes, books, and miscellaneous items that I have grown accustomed to having. The good news is that I’m only an hour or so train ride from home, so it won’t be that hard for my to get stuff if I don’t bring it all the first day.

Now the problem comes when my parents want to go out shopping for things I’m going to need to furnish my room, as well as new clothes and random necessities, and I don’t have any time to do that. This is my last week of work at my local grocery store, which is good because then I will be free for the last two weeks of summer, but I am still involved with the church musical which is now starting to get to crunch time [with performances the 7-9th. So I’ve got a stack of ads for places like Linens N Things to Walmart to Office Depot, as well as about 10 different check lists that we need to look throught. I am the oldest and the only child so it’s not like we have done this before. So I’m starting to get a little run down, and slightly overwhelmmed. But I know everything will work out in the end.

This was a slight departure from my normal blogs about tech, but I just need to get some thoughts down. And if anyone out there IS leaving for school, I’m going to post some links to great sites for back to school/dorm sales:
