Ad Campaigns
Apple just released two new ad’s on their site, you can view ‘Bean Counter’ and ‘V-Word’ here.
The last two Apple commercial’s are directed towards the latest Microsoft ads, which, in turn, were trying to counter the Mav vs. PC ads. In this never-ending cycle, it seems that both companies are trying two completely different approaches.
Microsoft spent a lot of money to get Jerry Seinfeld to do commercials, a LOT of money. The goal was to show that Bill Gates [and Jerry] are regular guys who are trying to blend back into normal society after being so successful. Between the two commercials that they did show, they made almost no mention of Vista or Windows at all. That is, until the last thirty seconds, when Jerry would somehow relate their escapades to how Microsoft has changed the world. And now they are scraping that whole project and going with a ‘I’m a PC’ campaign, ‘mocking’ the Apple ads. They are pretty good commercials and I can actually tell what it is they are selling [without putting a picture of a Vista box on the screen for 30 seconds], but it’s sad that they had to waste so much money to get there… I don’t know if this is too late, though.
Apple goes with the direct approach. They set up a senario and show how Mac’s are ‘better’. Lately they have been targeting Vista’s flaws, and how OSX performs the same task without problems. Apple targets the younger generation in both their ads [with the choice of actors they use] and their products in general. This has definately helped their sales since they are gaining marketshare on the Mac side, and dominate the marketshare with the iPod. All in all, Apple’s ads are direct, in your face, and working.
It will be interesting to see how the marketing battle enfolds… So, which commercials do you like best? The Mac vs. PC or the I’m A PC ones? Reply with your answer in the comments section! Thanks for reading!

Hey, i personally don’t care for the Apple commercials because they seem to exaggerate on how bad Vista is. I have no problem with the Mac OS but as a Vista user, i have to say i have never encountered any problems that many people have stated in the past other than my game requirements goin up a little

Same here, I havn’t had any problems with Vista [at least not major ones]. Most of the bugs have been flushed out by now, I guess people can’t let go of it…
